I remember well the excitement that went through my head when I got my first Cricut machine. Besides the excitement, there were also many doubts. What crafts could I create and how? The only thing that came to mind at the time was making custom T-shirts and cups. At that time there were not many tutorials on how to use this wonderful and versatile machine, but when I realized that I could also create crafts with the Cricut’s print and cut feature my mind quickly began to plan new projects. Neither slow nor lazy, I started self-learning and began to make new creative crafts and the results were spectacular. Right there and then I fell in love with this feature.
If you have acquired your Cricut machine and also want to start creating new and creative projects, this complete guide on how to print then cut with Cricut will fascinate you.

Everything You Need to Know About the Cricut Print Then Cut Feature.
Equipment and Supplies
In addition to the Cricut machine to create projects with print then cut, you will need a color printer. If you don’t have a printer, don’t worry, you could also print away from home and come home to cut them with your Cricut machine. I will show you this process below.
- Any color printer. I use a Canon Pixma Meatank
- Any Cricut machine. I use my CRICUT MAKER. You may also use a Cricut Explore Air o Cricut Joy
- Cardstock
- Photo paper
What supplies can you use to print then cut?
¿What crafts can you make with Cricut Print then Cut?
There are a wide variety of creative and unique crafts you could make with Cricut’s print then cut option. For example:
- All kind of Stickers
- Waterproof stickers for wine bottles, water bottles, spice jars and more.
- Any occasion cards,
- Fridge or car Magnets
- Candy Boxes,
- Chocolate Boxes
- Candy or party favor bags,
- Business cards,
- Labels
- And many more

¿Up to What Size you May Print then Cut with Cricut?
The largest size that can be cut with Cricut’s print then cut feature is 6.75 by 9.25″ in letter size and 6.51 by 9.93 in A4 size.

Design to Print then Cut
Insert the design or photo onto the Cricut Design Space canvas, adjust the size, and add text if desired. When you have everything ready, select all the layers and align them to your liking. I am aligning them center horizontally on the card. And before printing, you have to take a very important step. Reselect all the layers and press flatten. Whenever you are going to print then cut, you must do this process.

This wedding announcement card is 5 by 7″ so you would print just one on each letter size page. Now if you want to print two change the size to 4.6 by 6.4″, select, right click, and duplicate. Place them next to each other and align them to the bottom. Then, select both and press attach. The design is now ready to be printed then cut.

Do You Have a Printer? Print at Home.
Once you have the design ready press make it. In the photo below it shows us how it would print the two cards on the same sheet. But in the next step I will print only one on each page since the card is bigger. Press continue.

In the print setup window, select the printer you are going to use, press bleed, press use system dialog and press print.

This other window will appear. Select the printer again and click on preferences. Either if you’re printing on photo paper or printable cardstock, you’re going to select photo printing. In media type if you are using glossy photo paper select glossy photo paper. And if you are using printable cardstock you are going to select matte photo paper. In quality it is very important to select high. Press OK and print.

To print the designs, you can use any brand of color printer, either inkjet or laser. I use a Canon Pixma Megatank G6020 Inkjet and my prints are always sharp and very colorful. Now, if you don’t have a printer, don’t worry because you can always create your crafts using the Cricut print then cut. I’ll show you how to do that process in the next step.
Do not Have a Printer? Print Away from Home
Not having a printer is not an impediment with the Cricut print then cut option since you can send your design to be printed at a printing company, at a friend or relative’s house. And for this, instead of selecting the printer, you are going to select Microsoft Print to PDF, check the bleed and print. Save the design in an easily accessible folder, and then send it to print.

Once you have returned with your prints, you can proceed to cut it with your Cricut machine. This can be any model of machine. Either Cricut Maker or Explore Air. I use a Cricut Maker to make my cuts. Remember to align the print very well when placing it in the upper left corner of the cutting pad. The first thing the machine will do is to scan the document and that takes a bit of time. Once it has scanned, it will proceed to make the cut.
Result: Cricut Print Then Cut
And here are the wedding announcement cards already made using the Cricut’s print then cut option. As you may have realized, the process is not complicated and the result is spectacular. In addition to cards, there are countless creative crafts that you can create using any model printer and Cricut machine. For example, all kinds of stickers, waterproof stickers for wine bottles, water bottles or for spice racks, cards for all occasions, magnets or fridge magnets, candy boxes, boxes for chocolates, favor bags for all occasions, business cards, labels for clothing or delivery packages, gift tags, and many more.
