Iron on Vinyl or HTV

On this occasion, I am going to be using regular iron on vinyl from the HTV RONT brand. I have already used it several times and I am very satisfied with the results. I have noticed that it is of very good quality and is affordable compared to other brands.

Regular Iron-On Vinyl or HTV

When customizing with HTV layers, we have to take into account the type of iron-on or HTV that we are going to use. For example, regular iron-on vinyl can be layered up to a maximum of 3-4 layers. Prepare the design as well as the following photo shows. If you would like to use this design, I invite you to download it from my blog HERE.

You could also apply a combination of regular iron-on vinyl with glitter iron-on vinyl if you wish. But in this case, it is recommended to apply the regular iron-on vinyl on the bottom and the glitter iron-on vinyl on the top.

Cutting the Regular Iron-On Vinyl

When sending the design for cutting in the Cricut Design Space program, it is very important to select MIRROR MODE each time you are cutting iron-on vinyl of any sort. In the list of materials to cut, select IRON ON or everyday iron on. When placing the iron-on vinyl on the cutting mat, it has to go with the shiny side facing the cutting mat. You could use the green or purple pad if you wish. After being cut, depilate.

Pressing the regular Iron-On Layers

Time to transfer the design to the shirt or garment. As I mentioned at the beginning, you can use a home iron, a heat press, or a Cricut Easy Press. The heat press is perfect for when you are going to press large designs, but you could choose the press that best suits your needs. The pressing time will depend on the brand of vinyl and the iron or press you use. For this design with regular iron-on vinyl, l used a Cricut Easy Press. I pressed each layer at 330 for 25 seconds. Let it cool down for about 30 seconds to remove the transparent film.

Here is the first layered design already transferred. I transferred it to a piece of cotton fabric to show you an example of how it looks already pressed.

Glitter Iron-On Vinyl or HTV

On the other hand, when customizing with glitter iron-on vinyl, it is not recommended to layer it on top of the other one. It is necessary to slice the layers of the design before cutting them. As shown in the following photo. So, when we apply the layers to the garment, they are all glued to the shirt.

Cutting the Glitter Iron-on or HTV Layers

When sending the design for cutting in the Cricut Design Space program, it is very important to select MIRROR MODE each time textile vinyl is to be cut. In the list of materials to cut, select Glitter Iron On. When placing the glitter iron-on vinyl to the pad, it has to go with the shiny side facing the cutting mat. You could use the green or purple cutting mat if you wish. After being cut, depilate.

Pressing the Glitter iron On Layers on the Garment

Time to transfer the design to the shirt or garment. As I mentioned at the beginning, you can use a home iron, a heat press, or a Cricut Easy Press. The heat press is perfect for when you are going to press large designs, but you could choose the press that best suits your needs. The pressing time will depend on the iron-on brand or press you use. For this glitter iron-on vinyl design I used a VEVOR heat press machine. I pressed each layer at 330 for 30 seconds. Let it cool down for about 30 seconds to remove the transparent film.

Below is the result of the customized t-shirt with layered glitter iron-on vinyl. Love how it turned out! So simple but beautiful. If you would like to use this design, I invite you to download it from my blog HERE.
