Second way to personalize t-shirts and fabric garments: Transfer Paper for Dark and Light Colors

- T-shirts and Other Items: Almost all types of fabric and color (light and dark fabrics). You can find t-shirts at Jiffy and tote bags in this link.
- Color Inkjet Printer: An inkjet printer is sufficient for this project. You can use the Canon Pixma MegaTank.
- Transfer Paper: There are two types of transfer paper: one for light-colored fabrics and another for dark fabrics.
- Transfer Paper for Light Fabrics: I use the Asub Transfer Paper for Light Colors in Letter size.
- Transfer Paper for Dark Fabrics: Asub Letter Size Transfer Paper for Dark Colors It is ideal for dark fabrics.
- You can also use Transfer Paper for Dark Colors A4 Size Sculpfun and Transfer Paper for Light Colors A4 Size Sculpfun.
- Scissors or Cutting Machine (Cricut): To cut the designs. You can use the Cricut Maker.
- Heat Press or Home Iron: To transfer the design to garments. The one I used is this one from the brand Sculpfun but it is not yet on the market (launch in March 2025). Here are other alternatives Vevor manual heat press and HTVRONT AutoPress
- Parchment paper.

Third way to personalize t-shirts and fabric garments: Homemade Screen Printing
3. Materials
a.- Adhesive Vinyl
- If you would like to use the image of spring that I have designed, you can download it for free from my blog at this link. It is also available in a Spanish version.
- Cutting Machine – I used my Cricut Maker, but you can use any cutting plotter. Also available in Amazon.
- Permanent Vinyl (any color) – To create the template. Available in Amazon.
- Transfer Belt – To transfer vinyl design to screen printing frame. Find it in Amazon.
- Screen Printing Frame with Mesh – To transfer the design to the garment. Available in Amazon.
- Painter’s Tape – To cover the edges and prevent the ink from spreading. Find it in Amazon.
- Screen Printing Squeegee – To distribute the ink evenly. Available in Amazon.
- Small Spatula – To mix and apply screen printing ink. Find it in Amazon.
- Screen Printing Ink – In the color of your choice. Available in Amazon.
- Garment to Personalize – T-shirts, cloth bags, kitchen towels, etc. I order them in Jiffy for its fast shipping and good prices.
- Optional: Heat Gun – To speed up the drying process. Find it in Amazon.

The best thing about these methods is that you can do them at home, without the need for emulsions or complicated preparation processes, which makes them ideal for entrepreneurs looking to simplify the process.
- Stencil with adhesive vinyl and Cricut: This method is perfect for those who want to reuse the mesh to create stencils for future projects. The stencil can be removed after use. The mesh can be washed and stored for use again. The adhesive vinyl is adhered to the screen printing mesh as a stencil, and then the screen printing ink is applied to transfer the design. - Stencil con Iron-On y Cricut: Using iron-on vinyl as a stencil is ideal if you want to reuse the same stencil many times for your customizations. The Iron-On adheres to the mesh with a heat press and is permanent. After using it, you can wash, dry and store the stencil to make more customizations in the future using the same stencil. - xTool and Laser Screen Printing Machine: This is a more advanced approach, where the laser machine cuts the stencils with high precision. - Thermal press 15×15 (recommended models):
- Butcher paper or Teflon sheets (for protection when ironing): Buy butcher paper or Teflon here

The sublimation It is one of the most popular techniques for personalizing garments, as it allows you to transfer vibrant and long-lasting designs. In this process, the ink turns into a gas when heat is applied, impregnating the fibers of the fabric, resulting in a design that does not peel or wear over time.
It is important to note that sublimation It only works on polyester fabrics and in light or white colors, since the design is integrated directly into the fibers of the fabric. This method is ideal for personalizing t-shirts, mugs, cushions and other products, but is not recommended for dark fabrics or non-synthetic materials.
To carry out sublimation, you will need a printer with special sublimation ink, sublimation paper to transfer the design, and a heat press to press the design onto the garment. This process does not require vinyl or stencils, making it a simple and efficient option for high-quality customizations.
