How to Make Wooden Plant Stakes using the xTool M1 Laser Engraver

First, prepare the 3mm balsa wood. If you wish, you can paint it with matte acrylic paint of your choice. Apply one or two coats of paint, then wipe off the excess with a piece of paper towel. (I wipe it off because I like to see the natural wood lines). Let it dry for about 5 to 10 minutes. In the meantime, visit my blog and download the FREE Templates here.

Once the paint on the wood is dry, let’s place it on the xTool M1 machine to do engraving and cutting. We are going to use the triangular prisms since we are going to make a cut.

Working with the Design

Then, access the xTool Creative Space program to load the templates, work on the design, and adjust the engraving and cutting parameters. Adjust the size of the template according to your preference, select the engraving areas and in the menu in the right column choose engrave and those areas will become solid. Then select the cutting areas and choose cut in the menu on the right.

Then in material. In this case we are going to cut 3mm balsa wood, select 3mm pine plywood. At the height raised, select the triangular prism. Always go to the menu on the right where it says thickness and select the ruler to adjust the laser height automatically. Then, press the process button.

Here you have the gorgeous wooden labels for plants. These were made of balsa wood painted with matte acrylic paint.

That easy you can create these beautiful and creative wooden plant stakes labels using your own xTool M1 laser cutting and engraving machine. Depending on your needs, you can make them with raw wood or painted wood.

Congratulations! You have completed your journey towards creating wooden plant labels with the xTool M1 machine. Now you have in your hands unique and personalized pieces that will add a touch of charm to your garden or to your gifts for friends and family. Remember, creativity has no limits, and with tools like the xTool M1 and our guide, you can continue to explore and expand your artistic skills in the world of gardening and crafting.
