Step 1: Prepare the materials

Find the templates and fabrics with the designs of your choice. I’m going to cut some hearts. Two 8 by 8″ and one 5 by 5″

Now let’s cut the interfacing. [the same size as the fabric]

Step 2: Join the fabric with the interfacing

Let’s place the interfacing on the wrong side of the fabric with the paper facing up and iron it until it sticks to the fabric.

Step 3: Cut the appliques

Place the template on top of the fabric, secure with pins and cut around the image. If you have a Cricut machine, you could also cut it that way using the Design Space program. Click here to see tutorial.

Step 4: Press the appliqués to the garment

Remove paper from back of appliqué.

Align it to the garment, put a piece of fabric or butcher paper on top and iron until it sticks.

Do not use the steam while doing this process.

Ready!!!! Here you have your personalized garment using the fabric applique method!

Fabric appliques with heat and bond are a super easy method of customizing. You can customize t-shirts, cushions, covers, canvas and much more. If you would like to learn 4 more customization methods, I invite you to visit my YouTube channel to learn more about it. I show you about sublimation, iron on, screen printing and infusible ink.
