My Opinion on the Procolored K8 and K13 DTF Printers

When I decided to try the Procolored K8 and K13 DTF printers, I had high expectations. I wanted a solution that would allow me to work with cotton t-shirts, blends, and dark colors without the typical limitations of sublimation. Honestly, this printer exceeded my expectations. Its ability to print with vibrant colors and apply a white ink layer is a game-changer for garment customization.

How Much does it Cost?

The Procolored K8 and the Procolored K13 are innovative options for custom projects, known for their quality and versatility. Currently, both printers are available on Kickstarter, where you can take advantage of an exclusive discount by reserving them. For example, the Procolored K8 is priced at $1399, and the Procolored K8 + oven bundle is available for $1799. Meanwhile, the Procolored K13 is priced at $2799, and the Procolored K13 + oven bundle costs $3199. Once the campaign ends, they will be available at their regular price on Procolored’s official website. Now is the perfect time to grab these machines at a special price!

Moreover, the printer comes with its own software, called PRORIP, which is user-friendly. From this program, you can input the designs you want to print and adjust key settings to ensure perfect results. One of the greatest advantages of DTF prints is that they’re perfect for customizing dark-colored shirts. This is because they first print a layer of vibrant, bright colors, followed by a white ink layer on the back, ensuring that designs appear sharp and full of life on any fabric color.

How to Customize T-Shirts in Every Color with the Procolored DTF Printer

Here’s a step-by-step guide based on my experience:

Design Your Graphic:

I use a design program to create unique graphics. Alternatively, you can purchase designs from an online design store. For example, Creative Fabrica offers a wide variety of beautiful designs perfect for printing with DTF. The flexibility of DTF technology allows for intricate details and vibrant colors that look great on any t-shirt.

Print Your Design:

With the DTF film loaded in my Procolored K8 or K13, I start the printing process. I use the PRORIP software, which is incredibly intuitive and allows me to input designs directly and adjust them before printing. The color quality is amazing when using Procolored DTF ink.

Apply DTF Powder:

I carefully sprinkle the DTF powder over the design. This step ensures that the design adheres perfectly to the garment.

Cure the Design:

Before transferring the design to the t-shirt, it’s important to cure it. I use a Procolored DTF oven for this step. The oven is included in the printer bundle, but you can also purchase it separately if desired. If you don’t have it, you can use a heat press, but without pressing the design. The goal here is simply to melt the DTF powder. Curing the designs in the oven is crucial to ensure the powder adheres properly and that the design has the durability we’re aiming for. I cure mine at 120°C for 180 seconds.

Use a Heat Press to Complete the Process:

I use a heat press to complete the transfer. Currently, I use my HTVRONT automatic press, which makes the job much easier. I press the design at 320°F for 40 seconds. Afterward, I let it cool slightly before removing the film, then press it for another 10 seconds.

Remember to place the film back and add a soft packing sheet or a Teflon sheet on top before doing all the pressing. This is important to protect the fabric of the t-shirt.

Final Result:

After removing the film, the result always amazes me: a professional and durable design.
