What is DTF and How it is Used?
Before we dive into the 10 exciting item ideas you can customize with DTF, I’ll give you a brief introduction to what DTF is and how it is used.
DTF, or Direct-to-Film, is a digital printing technique that is mainly used to customize textiles, such as t-shirts, bags, pillowcases, among others. In this process, a specialized printer is used to print a digital design onto a transparent polyurethane film. This design is printed on mirror and with pigment or solvent inks.
Once printed on film, the design is cut out manually or with a contour cutter, leaving a border around the design. A layer of DTF powder is then applied over the design printed on the film. After this step, the film with the printed and powdered design is placed in an oven to cure the design. Finally, it is placed on the desired garment or item and heat and pressure is applied with a heat press, leaving the design permanently printed on the garment.
DTF is a versatile technique that allows complex and detailed designs to be printed on a wide variety of items. DTF custom offers a wide range of colors and materials that can be customized. It can be printed on a variety of fabric colors, including whites, blacks, and light or dark tones. Additionally, a wide range of textile materials can be customized, including cotton, polyester, cotton/polyester blends, and some synthetic fabrics. It also offers greater durability and wash resistance compared to other printing techniques. This makes DTF custom a versatile option for a variety of custom printing applications.
