How to DIY Money Holder Cards with Cricut and FREE Template

I use a Canon Pixma Megatank printer

KOALA glossy photo paper 61 lbs.

Printable Cardstock

Lip balm pouch

Design: DIY Money Holder Cards

I will work with the design in the Cricut Design Space program. The first thing I will do is download the FREE Templates here on my blog and save it in a folder on my computer. Then in the program go to upload or upload image to add the template to the Cricut gallery and then to the work canvas. Once on the canvas, the template will be grouped. Select it, press ungroup and delete the text.

Now it’s time to add background. You can add the background of your choice. It can be solid color, a patterned background, or photographs. I’m going to show you how to add a photo to it, but it would be the same process for adding any other type of background. Insert the photo, background, or image onto the Cricut canvas, resize it, and then send it to the back of the template. Select both layers and then press slice. Delete the layers you no longer need.

Now we are going to add text to it. You can use the color and font of your choice. I am using Monalisa and Mistari fonts, both from Creative Fabrica. This is optional, but I’m going to put a QR code on the back of the card.

How to Create Your Own QR Code

The QR code is made using the Barcode Generator FREE online platform. You can insert your business information into that code. Whether it’s your website, Facebook, Instagram or other contact information that you want to add. I inserted the address of my web page. Then select above if you want to create a regular barcode or a QR code and press create. The code will appear on the right side. Press download and save it on your computer. Then go to the Cricut canvas to insert it.

When you already have all the information you need in the template, select the layers in front and press flatten. Do the same with the back. If you want to put the intermittent cut lines in the back, those are placed after flattening. Then select the layer with the flattened design and intermittent cut lines and press attach. Now it will be ready to be printed and cut.

Printing DIY Money Card Holders

Now we are going to proceed to print the money cards. Press make it, click where it says send to print and you will get a window as in the diagram below. There, you will select the printer to use, then select the bleed, also the use system dialog and press print.

Reselect the printer in case it has moved and press preferences. In the other window, you are going to select photo printing, in media type you are going to select glossy photographic paper if you are using that material or select matte photographic paper if you are using printable cardboard. In quality select high. Make sure that the paper size is the correct size, press ok and print.

To print them you can use any color printer. I am using my Canon Pixma Megatank G6020 Inkjet printer

Cutting the DIY Money Holder Cards

Position and align the printing on the upper left corner of the cutting pad. I am using the purple pad, but you can also use the green pad.

To cut the templates to make money holder cards I am using my Cricut Maker machine. You can also use Cricut Explore Air and even a Cricut Joy.

Assembling the Money Holder Cards

Put glue around the lip balm pouch. Try to put just a little glue. If you apply too much clean the excess using a Q-tip. Then stick it on the card.

Roll the bill up and place it in the pouch. Now put glue around the bill to glue the back of the money card. Try not to get glue too close to the bill.
