First Impressions: Compact, Sleek, and Travel-Friendly
Right out of the box, the Sielux SL2 stands out for its elegant, modern design. It’s lightweight and compact, making it ideal for creators with limited space or those who need to move their equipment often. Setting Up the Sielux SL2
Assembling the machine was straightforward and quick. One of the most convenient features is the ability to use the Sielux SL2 as a handheld unit for mobile engraving. You simply attach the magnetic shield, connect the USB cable to the smoke extractor, plug in the power, and you’re ready to go.
Once powered, download the Sielux app from your phone’s app store. After signing up with your email, you’re welcomed with a wide selection of pre-made designs. Prefer to use your own images? You can easily upload and edit them directly in the app.
First Test: Engraving Leather
For my first test, I chose a leather tray from the gift box. Using the app, I uploaded a design, resized and cropped it, and selected “Leather Coaster” under the material settings. A preview option allowed me to align the design perfectly before engraving.
The result? A clean, fast, and detailed custom leather piece—ideal as a personalized gift.
Customizing Shipping Boxes
Next, I used the Sielux SL2 to brand a shipping box with my logo. Again, I simply placed the machine over the designated area, uploaded my design, chose “Coated Paper” as the material, previewed the alignment, and hit “Engrave.” It worked flawlessly—even on the inside of the box for a unique touch.
Precision with the Automatic Lifting Base
Switching to the automatic lifting platform adds even more precision to your engravings. After assembling the base and connecting it via USB-C, I engraved a photo on a wooden frame using the “Wood Carving” setting. Adjusting the height with the built-in dial was simple, and the result was a beautiful, detailed image that’s now one of my favorite pieces.
I also engraved this beautiful leather coaster. I love it! There are so many simple items that you can transform into something unique and special using this machine.
Using the Rotary Tool for Cylindrical Items
The rotary attachment takes things to the next level. I customized a stainless-steel tumbler by aligning it with the laser head and adjusting for the correct height (117 mm). In the app, I entered the tumbler’s diameter (70 mm), selected “Metal” > “Dog Tags” for the material settings, and uploaded a floral design I created in the Canvas graphic design platform.
The engraver handled the curved surface beautifully. The result was a stunning, personalized tumbler—done quickly and cleanly.
