Instructions – DIY Fabric Easter Basket:
Prepare the fabric according to the following measurements. You can use the fabric and color combination of your choice. I am using Waverly cotton quilting fabric I found at Walmart.

To give body and stability to the basket, I am using quilt batting with the following measurements.

Video tutorial my YouTube Channel: DIY Fabric Easter Basket
Step 1
Grab the pieces of fabric with the following measurements.
Place the largest one on the bottom and right side up, then place the two smaller ones right side in. One above and the other below.

Secure with pins and sew on both sides leaving a 1/2″ or 1cm margin.

Unfold and iron it. Set Adide.

Step 2
Take the pieces of fabric and quilt batting that measure 10″ x 10″.
Place them one on top of the other to cut out the bottom circles of the basket. These circles should measure 10″ in diameter.
I will use a 10″ plate to mark the circle on the fabric before cutting.

Now place a circle of fabric right side down and the quilting batting circle on top. Secure with pins and set aside.

Step 3
Put the fabric and quilt batting that measure 10″ x 32″ together and secure with pins. Then join the two sides together and also secure with pins.
This will be the inside or lining of the Easter basket.

Do the same with the fabric with three stripes that we sewed at the beginning. This will be the outside part of the basket.

Now we are going to attach the bottom circles to the body of the basket. Use several pins to stick the circles to the bottom of the basket as shown in the photo below.
Do the same with the part that has the quilt batting.

Pass seam on the union of the body of the basket. [Outside party ] Seam allowance is 1/2″.

Sew to the bottom of the basket. Seam allowance is 1/2″.

Do the same with the other part that has the padding. Seam allowance is 1/2″.

Step 4
Now we are going to work on the basket handle.
Lay the 3 1/2″ x 22″ pieces of fabric and padding one on top of each other.
One piece of fabric right side up, the other right side down, and the quilt batting on top.

Secure with pins and sew both sides leaving a 1/2″ margin.

Use a clothespin to turn inside out and topstitch leaving a 1/4″ allowance.

Step 5
Take the outside part of the basket and turn it inside out.
Then, put the handle from one end to the other and secure it with pins.

Put it inside the part with the quilting batting.

Align all parts at the top and pin all the way around.

Pass seam.

Turn it inside out and sew up the opening.

Put the lining that has the padding inside the basket and if you wish you may topstitch leaving a 1/4″ margin.

Iron and done with your DIY fabric Easter basket!!!
If you wish, you could decorate with a bunny ears bow or clip. See tutorial on how to make this Easter bow here. This bunny ears bun has a clip on the back, so your girl could wear it in her hair too.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and above all that it has resolved your doubts about how to make a DIY Easter Basket for your children in this beautiful season.
