DIY Wooden Fall Door Hanger | Customizing Wood with Vinyl and Cricut.

**Scroll down to see the list and links of the materials used in this tutorial**

Autumn is around the corner and I have started with the Fall decoration in my house. This 2021, I thought it would be a good idea to renew the fall decoration for my front door.

I have been using the same fall door decor for the last 3 years. So why not creating something new and different.

Let’s get to work!. I will be using materials that I already have at home. Well, almost all of them !!!

The wooden circle was missing. I normally have wooden circles in stock in my workshop but with the Covid situation, wood have been scarce. Now, It seems the hardware stores have restocked. Yay!!

What will you need for this project???

Written instructions:

I went to the hardware store and grabbed an 18 “by 1” wooden circle. I painted it with white chalk paint to give it a base color.

Then I divided it into 3 parts. Paint the underside orange using an acrylic paint I already had at home. To make a very straight and clean parting i used blue painter’s tape.

Let the paint on the bottom of the circle dry so you can continue with the other color. It took about two hours to dry. Then I proceeded to apply painter’s tape so I could paint the center part of the circle. This part was painted black. Also allow to dry for a period of two hours or more.

Before placing the text, place the hangers on the back of the wooden circle. Use two half moon rings and two 3-inch pieces of strap or ribbon and staple them to the wood. You could also use hot glue or tacks.

Now it is time to cut the design that we are going to place in the wooden circle already prepared and painted.

I made the design myself and with love I share it with you for free if you would like to use it. It already comes with the exact measurements to decorate an 18 “wooden circle. In addition, it comes with the measurements so you can paint the colored stripes on the circle and with the same measurements that I used.

FREE Download ABOVE along with the list of materials to use.

We cut the [TEXT] design using these measurements: 14.35 “by 8.54”. This is if you want it for an 18 “circle.

Weed it and using transfer tape, transfer it to the wood.

Try to get the text to stick well to the wood, use the cricut spatula to press the letters.

And if you’re wondering if the letters are going to come off, don’t worry we’ll seal it off in a moment so that doesn’t happen.

Remove the transfer tape and press the letters again so that they are firmly attached. Then we are going to seal using Clear Acrylic Gloss or Matte Coating.

Be generous and spray a good coat so the letters are well sealed.

Decorate to your liking and according to the occasion. You can use flowers, pines, pumpkins, leaves, bows, etc.

Voila!!! I already have my new 2021 wooden fall door decor. I love how it has turned out! What do you think??
